Fear in Delhi, furore in Mumbai | Delhi models worry about MMS scandals | Sanghita Singh New Delhi | | |
Wardrobe malfunctions dominated the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai. So, its no surprise that the excitement for the Wills India Fashion Week in Delhi, starting Wednesday, is tempered with anxiety amongst models. Jesse Randhawa, who walked the ramp in Mumbai, says, “Mishaps will happen. What is scary is that the whole episode circulated on MMS. After this it will be difficult for us to even trust regular photographers.” “Cant they come up with a law to protect models?” says Alison Kanuga. “It isnt anybodys fault when a dress falls off. We should do something to stop people taking advantage.” Diandra Soares adds, “Ive gone through something similar. These things happen. But now I am so nervous that I ran away when I saw photographers trying to take pictures in the hotel lobby right now.” Lakshmi Menon says this is the first time she is jittery. “I am livid that those shots were played repeatedly. Models come from respectable backgrounds. The media should have reacted with maturity.” Menon believes the MMS of the incident was the work of a mediaperson. “Ive never seen anyone sitting in the audience recording fashion shows,” she says.
